Doubt over RAAS use in teens

In a study with long-term follow-up evaluating survival in 340 patients with youth-onset type 2 diabetes, Canadian researchers found they were four times as likely as patients with type 1 disease to develop renal failure.

A key risk factor was ever use of an RAAS inhibitor, and although this may reflect illness severity, failure of RAAS blockade should be considered, the researchers said.
