Drinking ups CV risk for next 24 hours

The first meta-analysis of the immediate effects of drinking alcohol on the chances of myocardial infarction (MI) or stroke has good news… and bad news.

The bad news is that any alcohol consumption appears to increase the risk of MI, ischaemic stroke and haemorrhagic stroke in the ensuing 24 hours, with the risk probably highest in the first hour after consuming the drink, the US study suggests.
