Three specialists conducted the study, appearing in the BMJ Christmas issue, by reading all 14 of Ian Fleming’s James Bond books and documenting his drinking habits.

They found Commander Bond’s alcohol consumption was 92 units per week – excluding days when he was unable to drink because he was incarcerated – over four times the recommended amount.
