Eating breakfast aids weight management
The study in 3500 participants followed for 18 years showed those who ate breakfast every day gained 1.9 kg less weight than those who ate breakfast 0–3 days a week.
Eating breakfast daily reduced the risk of abdominal obesity by 22%, obesity by 20% and metabolic syndrome by 18%, compared with eating breakfast infrequently, independent of baseline adiposity.
The risk of type 2 diabetes was 73% lower in those who ate breakfast every day in black men, and in white men and women, but not in black women.
