Economic gap reflected in UK stillbirth rate
UK researchers assessed the causes of stillbirths occurring in England from 2000–07, in light of deprivation levels and year of birth.
They found there were 44 stillborn babies for every 10,000 births during the eight year period.
However, the rate of stillbirths was twice as high among the most deprived tenth of England’s population compared to the least deprived.
