Ecstasy use not linked to depression

The longitudinal community study in 2000 people aged 24–30 surveyed participants’ ecstasy use and depressive symptoms over four years.

It showed that current ecstasy users reported more depressive symptoms when using ecstasy compared to not using it. However, the difference was largely accounted for by differences in depression rates between users and non-users of the drug.

“If this had not been considered, one could erroneously conclude that it was ecstasy use per se which
