The number of emergency department visits related to cancer treatment has increased more than five times faster than ED visits in general, a US study shows.

US researchers investigated trends in more than 1.5 million visits to emergency departments related to complications of cancer therapy between 2006 and 2015.

Visits relating to cancer treatment increased at an annual rate of 10.8%, compared with only 2% annually for all ED visits.
