Eggs implicated in GI cancers
Egg consumption may raise the risk of gastrointestinal neoplasia and more particularly of colon cancer, an Australian meta-analysis has found.
Data from 44 studies with over 420,000 participants revealed that those who regularly consumed eggs had a 15% increased risk of developing neoplasia of the oesophagus, stomach, colon and colorectum.
The correlation was stronger for colon cancers, for which egg lovers had an almost 30% greater risk, the authors from the University of Sydney found.
