Epilepsy a danger during delivery

Pregnant women with epilepsy face a far higher risk of death around the time of delivery than women without the condition, a large US study shows.

The retrospective study looked at the pregnancies of over 4 million women, of whom around 14,000 had epilepsy.

It found a more than 11-fold higher relative risk of death during delivery admission in women with epilepsy. Absolute risk was 80 deaths per 100,000
