Exercise for brain health in seniors: clock up the hours

Exercise does improve brain health in older people but they need to clock up more than two hours a week for six months, a systematic review suggests.

The US researchers examined nearly 100 randomised controlled trials (RCTs) including more than 11,000 participants older than 60 to determine the appropriate dose of exercise required to improve cognitive health.

Participants exercised for a mean of 25 weeks, clocking up 60 hours on average, and exercising three times a week, the authors said.
