Expert defends surgical mesh despite complications

Law firm Maurice Blackburn is pursuing a potential claim for an elderly woman who had complications following pelvic organ prolapse repair using a Johnson & Johnson (J&J) polypropylene product, in which the mesh became entangled in her bowel.

J&J discontinued the product and other meshes earlier this year, a decision based on commercial viability, a company spokesperson said.
