The claim comes after a European review of research found conflicting evidence of the relationship between testosterone and CVD, prompting the authors to call for a “cautious, restrained approach to testosterone therapy in ageing men.”

Although the study suggested a modest association between low endogenous testosterone and incident CVD or cardiovascular mortality, it also found no proof that testosterone replacement had a CVD benefit or specific adverse cardiovascular effects.

“We cannot rule out that low testosterone and heart disease both result from poor overall health,” the authors said.
