'Fake doctor' allegedly stole rheumatologist's identity

​An accused doctor imposter was well known for his “unsavoury medicine”, but managed to fly under the radar by laying claim to a UK rheumatologist's specialist college membership and research, former colleagues say.

Shyam Acharya (as pictured above on his WhatsApp profile) is accused of posing as Indian-born Dr Sarang Chitale to dupe four NSW hospitals and two medical companies, including pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, over the course of nearly 15 years.
