Fibromyalgia and mood
Patients with fibromyalgia (FM) are significantly less physically active than their healthy peers, and while their level of physical activity does not seem to be predictive of pain or disease impact, it is significantly linked to depressed mood, concludes a study of 39 women diagnosed with FM and a control group of 40 healthy women who were matched for age and sex.
Both objective and self-reported measures were used: participants answered questionnaires and wore an accelerometer on their hip for a seven-day period. FM patients had more variability in their self-reporting than did the healthy participants.
