Fish-rich diet may protect against rheumatoid disease

In a Swedish cohort of more than 32,000 women, 205 RA cases were identified during 7.5 years of follow-up.

The women who ate the most fish were 33% less likely to develop RA compared to those hardly ever eating fish, when adjusted for other dietary factors, smoking, alcohol intake and use of aspirin.

Benefit was seen with intake of one serve a week of salmon or four serves a week of leaner fish.
