Fluvax still restricted for kids

CSL Ltd’s probe into 2010’s surge in Fluvax-related febrile events in young children was yet to be finalised, the TGA has noted in its annual update to safety advice on childhood influenza vaccination.

In 2012, four vaccines have been approved for those aged from six months: Influvac (Abbott), Vaxigrip (Sanofi Pasteur), Agrippal (Novartis) and Fluarix (GSK).
Fluvax is approved for use in children older than five years, though the TGA has issued a cautionary note for its use in children aged 5–9 years.
