Flying the truth behind the fear
EBOLA took the plane on 20 July, 2014. Patrick Sawyer, an official with the Liberia finance ministry and a dual US-Liberian citizen, flew from Liberia to Lagos in Nigeria where he collapsed at the airport.
He had transited via Togo with the airline ASKY. Patrick infected people in Lagos but no-one appears to have been infected in transit.
In 1996 a similar thing happened when a doctor with symptomatic Ebola virus disease travelled from Gabon to Johannesburg. No cases in the air; one nurse dead in a Johannesburg hospital.
