Frozen stool effective in C. diff
Faecal microbiota transplant using stool frozen for up to five months is a safe and effective means of treating refractory Clostridium difficile infections, US researchers report.
The study involved giving prescreened frozen stool from healthy, unrelated donors to 20 patients who had failed antibiotic treatment for C. diff and had been hospitalised at least twice for their infection.
