Full dose RT to whole breast ‘may not be needed’

Targeted radiotherapy for breast cancer patients could be just as effective as treating the whole breast, British research has found.

Following surgery, focusing radiotherapy on the tumour bed produces similar results to treating the whole breast and has less severe long-term side effects, the authors of a study, presented at the European Breast Cancer Conference 2016 in Amsterdam.
