Game-changing scanner for Australia
22nd September 2014
An Australian hospital is putting the finishing touches to a $16 million project aimed at taking radiotherapy into a new era.

The goal is to increase radiotherapy efficiency by combining an MRI scanner with a linear accelerator.
The benefits include improved soft tissue imaging and real-time tracking of tumours that decreases the damage to normal tissue.
The MRI-Linac scanner, which is being installed in a specially constructed concrete bunker at Liverpool Hospital in NSW, is one of three prototypes around the world.
