GDM raises risk of postpartum incontinence

The condition often lingers for two years after delivery, and is more severe in women with GDM, the study found, contrary to the belief that the effects of GDM disappear shortly after birth.

Taiwanese researchers analysed a population of more than 6300 women who gave birth in one hospital between 2002–07, finding 562 with GDM.

They found that GDM was an independent risk factor for stress, urge and mixed incontinence.
