Gleason score’s days are numbered

Gleason scores are set to be replaced by a simpler prostate cancer grading system following a consensus meeting of international experts.

The new 1 to 5 grading system will be easier for doctors to explain and patients to understand, says Professor James Kench of Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He was member of a panel of 84 prostate cancer clinicians and pathologists who devised the system in 2014.
