Poll: Should there be universal screening for type 2 diabetes?

The nationwide Cegedim survey found 77% of GPs agreed that universal screening was warranted but they did not agree on the most appropriate screening test.
Fasting blood glucose testing was favoured by 55% of respondents, while almost a quarter of the 150 GPs surveyed said non-fasting HbA1c tests would be best for population screening, despite the fact that test does not attract Medicare funding.
