GPs are hesitant to prescribe hep C drugs

Two new studies from Sydney’s St George Hospital suggest GPs don’t yet feel comfortable treating hepatitis C patients with the new direct-acting antivirals.

One ongoing study is looking at hep C patients in south-eastern Sydney starting on direct-acting antiviral (DAA) treatment from March of this year.

Of 114 patients treated so far, the overwhelming majority received their treatment at a hospital liver clinic.
