GPs beat hospitals for follow-up cancer care

GPs have been given the thumbs up for providing follow-up care for women with endometrial cancer.

With most women now surviving the cancer, follow-up care from GPs is more holistic than specialist hospital reviews in the years following surgery, according to a program trialled at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne.

A review of 73 women who took part in a GP-centred care-plan based model of follow-up found that it was rated positively by both patients
