GPs have a dim view of back pain guidelines

GPs tend to have a poor opinion of guidelines for low back pain, finding them categorical and prescriptive and believing they constrain professional practice.

Belief in diagnostic imaging and other popular clinical practices not supported by the guidelines is also prevalent, according to a systematic review of 17 papers conducted by Melbourne academics.
