GPs leading the way on flu vax

The Influenza Specialist Group (ISG) GP Flu Season Preparation survey found 86% of GPs get a flu vaccination each year and 82% arrange immunisations for their frontline staff.

Most GPs surveyed reported sending their at-risk patients an initial reminder about vaccination but 42% do not follow up beyond that initial reminder.

ISG chairman Dr Alan Hampson (Hon MD) said most healthcare professionals were vigilant in trying to help prevent the spread of flu in the lead-up to winter.
