Healthy prognosis for mild depression: study

The meta-analysis of 19 studies, conducted by researchers at the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research, showed that in primary care studies, 23% of adult cases of depression will remit within three months, 32% within six months and 53% within a year.

The authors said remission rates among people with severe depression were 20 to 30% lower than among those with mild to moderate disorders, however this finding was from two studies and needed to be interpreted with caution.
