Heart-transplant mice live longer on opera

The researchers noted in their study, published in the Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, that mice who had received cardiac grafts and were exposed to La Traviata survived 27 days. Reinforcing the view of at least some music fans, mice exposed to the singer Enya survived only 11 days.

The 23rd awards, presented at a gala ceremony at Harvard University, celebrate the unusual, honour the imaginative and aim to spur interest in science, medicine and technology.
