Herbal remedies may be beneficial in OA

Two oral herbal treatments seem to reduce pain and improve function in osteoarthritis at least in the short term, according to the findings of a new Cochrane review.

Ninety days of treatment with 100mg Boswellia serrata, an Indian frankincense, improved symptoms compared with placebo, the authors including Melainie Cameron from Queensland’s University of the Sunshine Coast found in their analysis of 49 studies with 6,000 participants.
