High level of anxiety in professional musos

Painters are well known for suffering for their art, and a recent study shows this is also true for some of Australia’s finest musicians.

The study, the first of its kind, showed a high proportion of professional orchestral musicians experience physical pain, performance anxiety and depression.

Of 377 musicians from eight state and opera orchestras who were surveyed, 84% had experienced some performance-impairing pain and for 24% it was constant.
