High rates of major depression with PTSD

The meta-analysis of 57 studies and more than 6600 participants showed 52% had co-occurring PTSD and depression.

Natural disasters were associated with lower rates of MDD among people with PTSD compared with interpersonal traumas such as sexual or physical assault, after outliers were removed.

Military study groups had significantly higher rates of MDD among individuals with PTSD than civilian groups, the study showed.

However, gender did not significantly affect the rate of MDD among people with PTSD.
