High rates of PTSD prompt new guidelines

The NHMRC-approved Australian Guidelines for the Treatment of Acute Stress Disorder and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, endorsed by the RACGP and released last week, state that between 5% and 10% of Australians have experienced PTSD at some time in their lives.

The guidelines, updated for the first time since 2007, now include recommendations on managing the disorder in children.
