Higher cancer risk in psoriatic arthritis

Patients with psoriatic arthritis are at greater risk of some cancers, a study shows.

Incidence of breast cancer in particular is much higher in PsA, with women at a 3.6 fold greater risk of a malignancy if they have the condition.

In the US study of 217 PsA patients, the overall cancer incidence rate was 12.3% over 10 years, compared with 8.6% for matched controls.
