Hip arthroplasty in JIA an ‘excellent’ option: study

A US study has reassuring news for young adults with juvenile idiopathic arthritis needing surgery, finding that they generally do very well after total hip replacement.

Researchers from the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York assessed implant longevity and quality of life in 56 patients under the age of 35 who had total hip arthroplasty, with median follow up of 12 years.
