Hotter weather will hit elderly in London: study

The odds of dying from cardiovascular or respiratory causes due to warmer weather increase by more than 10% for a one degree rise in temperature, according to a study by Imperial College London.

Modelling shows that a summer that is two degrees warmer than average could cause more than 1550 extra deaths, with more than half in the very elderly (older than 85 years).
