How long is long enough? PE defined

According to the International Society of Sexual Medicine (ISSM), PE should be characterised by ejaculation that always or nearly always occurs within or less than one minute of vaginal penetration regardless of how long the erection is maintained before vaginal penetration. When it occurs from the first sexual experience, it is defined as lifelong premature ejaculation (LPE). 

The definition of acquired premature ejaculation (APE) has been characterised by a clinically significant reduction in latency time of about three minutes or less. 

The inability to delay ejaculation on all or nearly all vaginal penetrations, and negative personal consequences such as distress, bother, frustration, and the avoidance of sexual intimacy, should also inform the diagnosis of both types of PE.
