Hyperbaric oxygen therapy shows promise in IBD

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is safe and potentially effective in treating patients with inflammatory bowel disease, say the US authors of a new systematic review.

Pooled data from 17 studies involving over 600 patients and 9000 HBOT sessions showed an overall response rate of around 86% in both Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis.
