Implanted defibrillators need better monitoring: study

One in four patients with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) experience improved left ventricular ejection fraction to the point that they may not even need the device any more, say US researchers.

In their study of over 500 patients with an ICD placed for primary preventive purposes, around 40% experienced improved LVEF after follow-up of almost five years.
