Intensified treatment delay raises heart risk

A delay in initiating treatment intensification in T2DM patients significantly increases the odds of myocardial infarction, heart failure and stroke, an Australian study shows.

This remains the case even when the intensification does not lead to good glycaemic control, say the researchers from QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute in Brisbane.
