Intrathecal baclofen may improve pain post-stroke

Post-stroke intrathecal baclofen is associated with less spasticity-related pain and improved quality of life on some measures compared to conventional management with oral antispastic drugs, researchers say.

"One of the most common reasons patients seek out medical care after a stroke is pain associated with range of motion restrictions and muscle spasm," first author Dr Michael Creamer of Central Florida Pain Relief Centers in Orlando said.
