Issues with Mobile glucose test

Roche Diabetes Care, in conjunction with the TGA, is advising there may be potential for incorrect results with its Accu-Chek Mobile glucose tests if users are also taking a commonly used antibiotic.

Ceftriaxone, a broad-range antibiotic used to treat a variety of common infections, has been found to interfere with the way in which blood glucose is measured by the device, and may lead to incorrect readings, a TGA notice said. 

Roche is advising consumers of this issue, and will be updating the labelling of the devices.
