Job worries linked to asthma risk
Job insecurity in an economic crisis is associated with an increased risk of new onset asthma in adults, according to a German study.
Workers who felt they had a 50% or greater chance of losing their jobs had a 61 per cent excess risk for asthma compared with the general population.
And the risk jumped by 24% with every one standard deviation increase of the job insecurity.
People with high job insecurity were more likely to work in occupations with a high risk for asthma, were less likely to be on permanent
