Laxatives have disease-modifying effect in Parkinson’s

Rigidity associated with Parkinson’s disease flattens off after the introduction of maintenance laxative therapy, UK researchers have found.

A retrospective analysis of 79 patients with early disease showed a 6% year-on-year increase in flexor rigidity in the period before introduction of laxatives, at which point it plateaued.

This flattening off happened regardless of the type of laxative used
