LDL cholesterol reduced by eating pulses daily

North American researchers found that consumption of about three-quarters of a cup (130g) of beans, lentils, chickpeas or other legumes and pulses every day boosted the effects of heart-healthy diets.

The review included 26 randomised controlled trials with a total of 1037 people.

However, the researchers said even one serve of pulses may prove challenging in Western countries, with the median intake of dietary pulses being 0.2 serves in the US and in Canada 0.5 serves among those who consume them at all.
