A link between diabetes and early onset Parkinson’s disease
They found that diabetes was associated with early onset Parkinson’s disease (<60 years), with the link being stronger in women and younger patients.
The incidence of Parkinson’s disease among the diabetic group was 3.59 per 10,000 person-years, compared with 2.15 per 10,000 person-years among the non-diabetic group.
The authors said chronic inflammation and oxidative stress may contribute to higher risk years later.
