AS A life-limiting genetic disease which is relatively common in Australia, cystic fibrosis (CF) is well recognised in the community.

There are more than 3000 people living with CF in Australia and there will be as many adults with the condition as children in the near future. This represents a dramatic improvement in life expectancy over the past 50 years. The median survival in the 1960s in Australia was less than a decade.
