Long-term survival better with tPA after stroke

Stroke patients are more likely to be alive at three years if treated with alteplase, so long as they get through an initial seven-day danger period, a new study shows.

Patients who survived the first week after being given the tPA had a 22% better chance of long-term survival than those given standard care, the international research team found.

But there was little mortality difference
