Low adiponectin linked to raised risk of GDM later

They conducted a nested case control study of more than 700 women, including 256 with GDM.

Decreased adiponectin levels were associated with increased GDM risk in a dose-dependent manner after controlling for family history, BMI, ethnicity and other factors, the researchers found.
The finding suggests adiponectin may be another biomarker assisting in the early identification of women at high risk for GDM who could be targeted for intervention, the authors said.
