Low health literacy hits quality of life

POOR health literacy is contributing to diminished quality of life among patients with ischaemic heart disease (IHD), according to findings from an Australian general practice study.

Evaluation of a sample of 587 patients with IHD – mean age 72 years – from 24 practices, has found a relationship between poor health literacy and poor physical, but not mental, functioning.
